The Lowry is a world-class performing arts and gallery complex located at Salford Quays in Greater Manchester. Designed by renowned architects James Stirling and Michael Wilford, the venue opened in 2000 and was officially inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II. Named after the celebrated early 20th-century painter L.S. Lowry, the centre celebrates his legacy whilst hosting a diverse programme of theatre, dance, comedy, musicals, and opera. The building's distinctive architecture—featuring an iconic aerofoil-shaped canopy and stainless steel cladding—evokes a maritime theme and stands as a landmark of contemporary design.

The complex houses three main performance spaces: the Lyric Theatre with 1,730 seats, the Quays Theatre with 466 seats, and the Aldridge Studio with 150 seats. The Lyric Theatre boasts the largest stage in the UK outside London, hosting major touring productions and international artists. Beyond theatre, The Lowry features the Andrew Law Galleries, showcasing visual art exhibitions and a permanent collection of L.S. Lowry's works, alongside educational programmes, workshops, and community engagement initiatives. The venue offers accessible facilities, sensory-friendly performances, audio description, captioning, and BSL interpretation, ensuring inclusive experiences for all visitors.

Located at the heart of Salford Quays' cultural quarter, The Lowry serves as both a creative hub for artists and a gathering place for audiences seeking outstanding live performance and visual art. The venue's commitment to accessibility, programming excellence, and community involvement makes it one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary arts centres.
