Oxford Playhouse

Oxford Playhouse is the heart of cultural life in Oxford, with a wonderfully rich heritage of live performance spanning drama, dance, music, and comedy. Located on Beaumont Street in central Oxford, this historic theatre serves as a vital cultural institution for the city and wider region, presenting world-class productions and nurturing emerging talent.

The venue operates two distinct performance spaces: the Main Stage, which hosts larger productions and established shows, and the Burton Taylor Studio, an intimate space ideal for experimental theatre, new writing, and smaller-scale performances. This dual-venue model allows Oxford Playhouse to present diverse programming across genres.

Beyond its role as a performance venue, Oxford Playhouse is committed to community engagement and arts education. The organisation works with over 15,000 young people annually through its theatre company and community activities, making it a key educational resource. As a registered charity, Oxford Playhouse remains dedicated to making live theatre accessible to all, with comprehensive accessibility provisions including audio described and captioned performances, BSL signed shows, and dementia-friendly screenings.
